Setting up detection areas
If a motion detector is supplied with mains voltage, it first switches on the light. For a maximum of 60 seconds, a measurement process of the surroundings then starts. In this time, no movement is detected and no switching command is accepted.
Motion detector
The detection ranges of the different motion detectors depend on the rated installation height. In the case of nominal installation height of the motion detectors of 1.10 m or 2.20 m, the following are the results as seen from the mounting position:
- A detection range with a detection angle of 180°
- A frontal monitoring range of up to 30 metres
- A lateral monitoring range of up to 15 metres.
You can find more details in the operating instructions of the different motion detectors.

Options for limitation of the detection range
You can reduce the detection range of the motion detector if required. A push-on cover that limits the detection range to an angle of 90° is included in the scope of delivery of the 1.10 m motion detector. You can optionally install the push-on cover on the right or the left. You can also activate/deactivate the individual sensors of the motion detector 1.10 m with the app. Thus, the detection range on the left and on the right can be restricted by 60°. You can individually adapt the detection range of the motion detector 2.20 m using the Clever Config app.
The monitoring diameter of the presence detector depends on the mounting height. With a rated mounting height of 3 metres, a presence detector has a monitoring area with a diameter of 20 metres. The detection range can be set with the Clever Config app or IR remote control (see operating instructions DWPMK 360 ..).

The motion detector mini basic has a detection range of 360°. The diameter of the detection range is dependent on the mounting height and the direction of movement of people in the detection range. With increased mounting height, the detection range increases, with detection density and sensitivity reduced at the same time. With a mounting height of 3 m, the following apply:
- Range for tangential movement on the ground is approx. 3 m.
- The tangential movement is more clearly identified by passive infra-red sensors as more segments are passed through as with a radial movement of the body.
- Range for radial movement on the ground is approx. 2.5 m.

(2) Range for radial movement on the ground

The sketched beams illustrate the detection range of the sensor:
The motion detector placed in the front part of the hotel room covers the whole room with its sensor pad as well as a large part of the entrance area.
